The Goal

As a UI Designer in this project, my goal was to create an engaging and clear HUD (method by which information is visually relayed to the player as part of a game’s user interface) that matches the art style of the game. Along with creating the HUD, I was also responsible in creating other UI Pop-Up assets throughout the game.

Spell Indicator Bar

The purpose of the spell indicator bar is for both users to see what spell each user is casting. Along with that, the main objective of the spell indicator bar is to inform both users how many steps are required to cast this spell and how many steps have been completed. It had to be large enough to be visible for the user but not large enough where it obstructs the main battle screen.

Version 2

Version 1 was nearly perfect but had one main problem. The indicator didn’t match the game’s art style so a different design approach had to be taken. Version 2 was completely redesigned and continued using the same concept from the previous version. This version got the approval of the team and was sent to the UX Engineers to implement the design onto the game.

UI Assets

Along with creating the spell indicator, I was also involved in creating various UI assets throughout the game. The goal was to provide a user friendly experience that allows the players to easily understand the concept of the game and virtually navigate the game with ease.

Battle Results 

The purpose of this design was to indicate whether the user won, tied or lost against their opponent. The text was stylized with a glow that surrounded the user’s screen to quickly indicate the status of the battle.

Trap & Status Icons 

The purpose of these trap and status icons is to make the user aware of their status after an attack or if they were inflicted with a trap. The goal was to create icons that resemble the same art style but yet affective to where the user can easily identify what has encountered them.
