PROJECT TYPE

Visual Identity

Amazon’s fulfillment center in Eastvale was looking to brand their massive distribution center that measured more than one million square feet. The goal of the project was to transform their facility into a more inviting environment for their employees and visitors. Amazon allows friendly competition between other fulfillment centers so the team in Eastvale were ready to ramp up the competition and transform their entire facility. This facility referred themselves as “The Squad” and were looking to use Amazon’s colors to add artwork throughout the building and create a massive 19 feet logo that overlooked their facility.

The Project Begins

We start by breaking down each wall into sections to ensure everything is measured correctly to avoid running short or hitting any obstructions. The goal was to create a brand-centric appeal that created an inviting work environment for their workers.

RELEASE THE

SQUAD

This facility wanted to make a statement when it came to their friendly competition between other fulfillment centers. They wanted us to design a gamer style logo under their nickname “The Squad”. This will eventually turn out to be a massive 19 feet wide decal that will be wrapped on the entrance of their facility.

Initial Sketch

Prior to beginning any illustration, I start by sketching an idea and redefining it until the client and I are in an agreement.

Printing Process

The printing process was nearly as hard as illustrating the kraken itself. As a reminder, this is a massive 19 foot decal. The kraken had to be split into 5 pieces since our printer is only capable of printing 62” wide. Each section was percisely cut and included a 1” seam to overlay each piece together. The process was staggering but the in-house production team and installers appreciated the extra effort I invested to make this an ease for them.

It doesn’t end just yet.

After completing the initial project, Amazon came back wanting more. The logo was a hit and wanted to continue branding it throughout the facility. This time they wanted to cover their employee news wall and their management office. The goal of this project was to create more employee engagement and generate more interest to the bank of monitors that displayed career development plans and facility news.

Watch the Process

It just takes a bit of measuring and a lot of patience.

Management Offices

The management department loved what they saw at the entrance of the facility that they wanted their own. Management wanted their walls to display Amazon’s leadership principles in a way that imbues the space with a creative vibe.

This won’t be the last of Amazon. We are currently working on another wall and will update this page when the project is complete!
